Letter Unsent

I wanted to write you a letter
But knew it would go unsent
Telling you how sorry I am
For all the damage we inflicted on each other
For things said out of anger and pain
In jealousy and sorrow
From confusion and illusion

It was not your fault, I tolerated too much
Abandoning my own needs, justifying your confusion
I settled for what you were willing to give me
A few moments of stolen pleasure derived from pleasing you
Never was I a priority, where you took center stage

I loved you like no one else before
Like no one ever will
The irony isn't ironic
The tragedy is not tragic

You've discovered a bliss of another kind, a new place to call home
She sounds like she might be able to save your soul
I pray she can give you the happiness I could not
That your sleepy smile graces your sullen face more often than not
I hope that the normalcy you crave can be found in her arms, her embrace
For you to find something to fill the void in your heart

I question if it can
And I know you do too
Has the THC in your system clouded your thought process ?
Or have the sticky fingers just found another button to push
Our friendship disolved the night she was introduced
Are you afraid she won't like the truth ?
Or are you afraid to admit it ?
